Frequently asked questions.

How do I schedule with you?

To schedule a free 15 minute phone consultation you can email me at coherecounseling@hushmail.com. It is my goal to always respond to emails no later than 2-3 business days.

You can also reach out to the front desk team at Higher Sights: noreply@highersightscounseling.com, and they can help schedule a consultation according to my availability.

After the phone consultation, we can find a day and time to schedule an intake appointment in person to continue to get to know one another.

What will the first session look/feel like?

Our first session together can be a little different than most sessions. It is known as an initial intake assessment, and is a way for me to understand a new client’s goals, history, story, and symptoms— as best as one can in an hour. These “assessments” are an ongoing process, but for the sake of the first session, it can mean a lot of information needs to be covered. We will also use this time to go over important practice policies, and answer any questions. This first session is just as important for new clients to decide if I am a good fit for them as well.

All sessions sessions typically last between 50-55 minutes.

How is payment collected?

While CoHere Counseling is my own private practice, I am also contracted with Higher Sights Counseling. This allows me to accept a wider variety of insurances. Payments, billing, and insurance is all managed by Higher Sights’ administrative staff. Do not be surprised to receive emails from their team regarding billing. For more information on Higher Sights, here is a link to their website:

For a list of insurances I accept, head to my Contact page. For private pay rates, the first appointment is $175, and then $140 for all ongoing sessions.

Do you provide Telehealth services?

As part of my practice, I typically require that regular, ongoing sessions be held in person. This increases the quality of care and safety, and is in alignment with the therapeutic services I provide. I do offer the option for Telehealth appointments for when occasionally needed, but not for consistent care.

My office is located at 217 E. 7th Ave, Denver, CO 80203

What are the pros and cons of private pay?

The pros of billing insurance can be many, with the most important being the peace of mind knowing that services are covered. However, there can be constraints as well when working with insurance companies that I mention here for the sake of informed consent:

Insurance often requires there to be a mental health diagnosis from the DSM (Diagnostic Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) to fund your care. If that is the case, this is something I will work hard to be transparent about with clients. It is a core value of mine to have therapy be as collaborative as can be. Therefore, understanding all steps of the process from the assessment, to diagnoses and treatment plans is something we can explore together.

A diagnosis can be extremely beneficial and needed for best treatment outcomes. At the same time, I recognize that a person’s story, challenges, or experiences, cannot be neatly categorized as a disorder or pathology within the DSM.

Additionally, insurances can sometimes require audits or reviews, meaning they will have access to clinical notes, assessments, treatment plans, and other personal information. A pro of private pay is that how your care is managed will be determined by what you and your clinician see fit, unbound by constraints from insurance companies.

Are you licensed?

I am a pre-licensed social worker, working towards licensure while receiving clinical supervision from Alex Regalado, LCSW

If you have questions or concerns about my supervision please let me know.

Do you provide support in between sessions?

I do not provide 24-hour on-call emergency services. You are free to call me after hours and leave a message on my voicemail, or can contact me through the confidential messaging app on Simple Practice. Depending on availability I am open to scheduling additional sessions in between our regular appointments.

You and I will discuss safety planning in our initial session(s). Should you have a mental health emergency and are unable to reach me, please go to your nearest hospital emergency room, call 911, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988, or call your psychiatrist/physician, or a family member/friend.
